| How the need was identified |
Through parental
consultation as a result of
successful projects such as the Asian Women's
Story Sack group at Kings Hedges. |
| Aims of the project |
- Facilitate parents to write a multi lingual supplement
to the schools brochure, currently there are 21
different languages spoken within the school
community, explaining the things that the schools
multi cultural parents found either confusing or that
they indicated they required further information on.
|
| How the project operates |
- Special launch evening to enable partners and
working parents to attend.
- Contributions via attendance at work shops, e-mail
etc to maximise parents ability to contribute.
- Crèche for pre-school children to overcome
potential childcare problems for parents attending
the workshops.
- Fathers targeted by requesting help with technical
issues such as design, layout etc.
- Bi-lingual children to take photos for the
supplement to increase 'ownership' of the
supplement.
|
| How is the programme innovative |
- The project was innovative in that it was the parents
themselves who changed and directed the aim of
the project. They decided that they needed a
supplement to the school brochure more than bi-lingual
reading books (the original idea).
