| How the need was identified |
The need was identified
in the School Development
Plan and became particularly pertinent when the
school relocated and the need for parents to
become familiar with the resulting changes
increased. |
| Aims of the project |
- To involve parents in a greater extent in their child's
learning.
Two specific target groups were:
1. 'hard to reach' parents and carers
2. parents and carers with learning
difficulties.
|
| How the project operates |
- Increased parental involvement with curriculum
meetings.
- A range of social events to allow parents to talk to
staff and governors in a less formal and threatening
forum.
- Information sessions for parents on topics such as
careers, behaviour management and drugs.
Transport for parents to attend social events,
meetings, annual reviews etc.
- Provision of administration time to contact parents
about events and subsequently remind them prior
to the event.
|
| How is the programme innovative |
- To facilitate parents access to the school such as
coffee mornings, talks, social functions (use of
minibus and/or taxi).
- This project has helped to build bridges between
home and school.
