How the need was identified Parent at home during the day might need the opportunity to socialise and network. Identified target group as parents with pre-school children
who are often unable to attend evening meetings due to childcare difficulties/ costs and language access [Bengali families].
Aims of the project
  • To provide information about their child's learning and how they can provide support.
  • To provide further information on a range of other topics (e.g. eating and sleeping patterns, transition to next phase of schooling, importance of talk and play).
How the project operates
  • The project offers monthly sessions that have a specific focus, lead by a variety of professionals. The sessions concentrate upon a range of issues of relevance and interest to the parents. The sessions are run during school hours and a crèche is provided for pre-school children.
How is the programme innovative
  • Parents are asked to suggest issues for discussion to ensure they are receiving the information and support that they feel they need. Offers networking opportunities.
