| How the need was identified |
Parent at home during
the day might need the
opportunity to socialise and network. Identified
target group as parents with pre-school children
who are often unable to attend evening meetings
due to childcare difficulties/ costs and language
access [Bengali families]. |
| Aims of the project |
- To provide information about their child's learning
and how they can provide support.
- To provide further information on a range of other
topics (e.g. eating and sleeping patterns, transition
to next phase of schooling, importance of talk and
play).
|
| How the project operates |
- The project offers monthly sessions that have a
specific focus, lead by a variety of professionals.
The sessions concentrate upon a range of issues of
relevance and interest to the parents. The sessions
are run during school hours and a crèche is
provided for pre-school children.
|
| How is the programme innovative |
- Parents are asked to suggest issues for discussion
to ensure they are receiving the information and
support that they feel they need. Offers networking
opportunities.
