How the need was identified  
Aims of the project
  • To support parents of children with learning difficulties.
  • To familiarise parents with experiences that children with learning difficulties go through.
  • To develop strategies parents can use to support their children's learning in a positive and effective manner.
How the project operates
  • A series of meetings with parents of children with learning difficulties led by SENCo.
  • Discussions on nature of specific learning difficulties and how they can help.
  • Discussion and support for parental needs.
  • Build up a resource bank for parents of books, games and activities.
How is the programme innovative
  • The project ensures accessibility for parents to effective ways of helping their child and promotes diversity amongst the school community by acknowledging needs and differences and placing a high value on including parents in their children's learning.
