| How the need was identified |
|
| Aims of the project |
- To establish equal partnership in learning between
parents and staff.
- To build parental confidence in their own skills
in
support of their children's learning (true co-educators).
- To provide a network of support for isolated parents.
- To encourage
a positive perception of school
among the few parents who have had bad
experiences in their own education.
- To encourage greater equality of access to learning
at home for all children.
|
| How the project operates |
The project offers
fortnightly hour and a half
sessions run in the school hall during school hours.
A member of staff leads parents in a themed activity
for 30 minutes of the session. The group identifies
non-threatening activities to engage in with their
child at home. Resources are available to borrow
based on the theme for the session.
|
| How is the programme innovative |
- Parents identify the skills that they wish to acquire in
order to participate actively in their children's learning.
