| How the need was identified |
The Nursery identified
a group of parents as 'hard-to-
reach', who will be given the opportunity to
experience, observe and understand how children's
learning develops through creative activity which
can be extended to home life |
| Aims of the project |
- To raise awareness of children's learning potential.
- To empower
parents as active partners in their
child's learning process.
- To use familiar everyday objects and materials
in
order to facilitate continuity between learning in
parent/ child interaction in the home environment
and the nursery.
|
| How the project operates |
- Prioritise 'hard-to-reach' families but provision made
to include all families in the project. A number of
practical workshops/ meetings will be organised
throughout the year for all parents to take part
- A group of parents
will be encouraged to work
alongside their children regularly in practical art
sessions, exploring a variety of materials. There will
be informal discussions regularly throughout the
year with parents, artist and educator, sharing observations of
children's learning and interests/
activities in the home environment as well as the
nursery.
|
| How is the programme innovative |
- The resident artist has been funded by 'Lottery
awards for all'. The project encourages use of
familiar everyday objects and materials in order to
facilitate continuity between learning in parent/ child
interaction in the home environment and the
nursery.
