| How the need was identified |
Webster Stratton
Parenting Course
- Parenting difficulties expressed at individual
consultations.
- Children's behavioural issues apparent to staff
and
discussed with parents on a day to day basis.
- New referrals come
from health / GPs / CDC/Brookside / Health Visitors / SENCos
of other schools.
Babygroup
- Parents expressed an interest in such sessions as
music, parasheet games, treasure baskets etc.

| Aims of the project |
- To support families with young children in
developing a range of skills to enhance their
pleasure in parenting.

| How the project operates |
- Evaluation of parenting course was compiled
weekly and on initial pilot project, detailed forms
were completed at the end.
- Analysis made by staff member of Brookside
and
video diary / testimony made.
- 2nd course was part of a County project which
resulted from presentation about our projects and
this is being evaluated by Cambridge University.
- Baby club evaluated
by parent testimonies.

| How is the programme innovative |
Incredible Years Course
- Parents feel empowered through practical activities
to feel in control, change family dynamics and
improve children's behaviour.
- It creates a supportive network
amongst the
parents. Our first group of parents still meet
monthly 18 months after the course.
Baby Club / Toddlers
- Extension of nursery role to include baby age group
and topics e.g. baby signing, heuristic play.
