How the need was identified Former Headteacher felt that parents of the minority ethnic communities were not feeling comfortable coming into the school maybe due to their
confidence in using English language. There were low numbers attending parents' evening, numeracy, literacy evenings.
Aims of the project
  • The main aim of the project was to foster a sense of belonging so that parents feel included in the day to day life of school.
How the project operates
  • Parents were invited to an introductory session to compile a programme together.
How is the programme innovative
  • Initially we planned six or seven sessions.
  • However the whole programme snowballed into other directions.
  • The programme centred around what the parents wanted.
