What the evaluation revealed

As in Phase 1, the majority of the projects were very successful with most project leaders providing

clear leadership with good processes in place. There were a variety of emphases:

  • linking this work to pupil’s attitudes and behaviour through looking at different ways of learning, developing motivation and self-esteem for all partners
  • using ICT in developing skills to support wider interests and learning, meeting the needs of targeted groups and making home learning interesting and enjoyable
  • developing skills and understanding with minority groups and offering new experiences e.g. aspects of healthy living with visits to the gym for Muslim mothers and daughters
  • building on an established programme for raising achievement producing learning resources, or offering parents insight into school systems and working processes and/or improved communication.

Good progress was made in many projects. A few project leaders were disappointed with progress but spoke of better levels of awareness and hoped to achieve their aims through embedding the work.

Several project leaders want to use the work as a model for greater partnerships and wider inclusion.

Verbal feedback was positive and shows that the project will be useful for further planning. Many participants spoke of it contributing to their own learning, feeling motivated and more confident.

Most project leaders will offer materials, resources, digital images, photographs and feedback from pupils and parents to illustrate the 2005 county conference. They will share their experiences, and discuss the successes and difficulties experienced.
